Fixings opaque is a collaborative project where we repurposed fixings, hardwares and tools into a complete typeface. The objects are directly printed onto paper using the proofing press and have been assembled into an A3 type specimen book, showcasing the abstracted letters in their raw printed form. The jacket of the publication folds out to become an A1 poster, which effectively holds the loose prints together without the need of binding.
To encompass the notion of "minimum means maximum effect", each letter is minimally designed with only one or two pieces of hardware to create an abstracted letterform that also serves as a small token of curiosity. We also stuck to an industrial theme using grey and black tones so as not to distract the viewers from deciphering what objects make each letter.
